And did you wonder what I mean in the title as nature is not a selling product. Or is it ? If you have visited a wildlife centre or a nature reserve or a safari park then you are mistaken. Sale at these places have increased and to keep this up they to need to sell their wares. This is also vital income to the organisations that have to raise their money without the need to ask local or national government for a hand out. There is no automatic income to call upon and conservation is a money hungry business.
All the wild life kept in captivity needs food and the vet needs to come and visit to ensure all the wildlife is kept in a healthy condition. Like our pets all of these bills need to be paid. And! that could be very expensive. So raising this money needs people to go and visit them to ensure the income. And another way of raising the money is through selling of Merchandise through the shops that are on site. Also people need food and there should be a good food outlet on site. This is also needs electricity. and that’s another bill.
So selling nature and the way the animals live in the wildlife is important as well as keeping the animals themselves on site. Educating people on how the species lives in the wild is also very important. Staff has to be paid for the experience to work. All in all selling nature is very important not just to the parks but to conservation in all its forms. And it does work and draws in a lot of people and families. If you have time with your family then pop down to your local conservation project and help the local wildlife!
