As we are on the subject of the natural world we should turn out attention to local level and the role of Environmental Health. We all see on out TV’s that these people protect us from having nasty visits to our favourite food outlets. But they do more than just that. They also carry out of inspections of fly tipping which is a world wide problem. As we have blogged about for a good while now we have a problem from unlawful dumping of waste for a quick buck. And this is the local Department that looks after this issue.

Also in this Department there is enforcement of planning laws and that mean enforcement of a conservation area. All these are there to protect our environment and to protect our natural world. The department can also bring prosecutions if illegal handling of wild bird eggs and they also co-operate with the environment agency over fishing licences. All this adds up to a very busy workload and the day is never quite over. As the shops open for their days business the environmental health protection people swoop. And that can be at night. Environmental health has also monitors noise pollution and that to can disrupt our environment.

So our natural world is always under attack and is never safe. But at local level there are systems and people in place to combat these things. Combating more serious environmental crimes is the space of the police. But! their workload is always constantly heavy and the resources is never there. Our environment is in constant danger and if we can do just a little bit to help then at the day the job would be less for those that try and keep harm away from the environment. It is a hope but we can all help.
