Well last night the Prime Minister of the UK had by many would say been pushed into a situation that for some time they have been ignoring. It has been forced by their failure with Test and Trace to stop the increase in Covid-19 cases. It is painfully obvious that even before the winter has truly started the cases have started to rise again. And the UK government has had to be pushed to come up with a comparable system for financial help like that being offered in mainland Europe. This means that the UK government has been to slow in its response to the threat from this virus.

Lack luster response will not repair the damage and the help is too late! It may help the NHS but it will in time have to come down to people willing enough to isolate themselves when told to. And that response combined with the winter ailments like the flu will mean that the UK might have to go into national lockdown. There will be difficulties to come there will be more cases than before but surviving the winter should have been the target before the winter actually began. Now the UK government is playing catchup with a deadly virus which is clearly out of control.

Digital Currency

I have written on many blogs about the advancing progress of digital currency. And if you have not seen it yet then you have not walked out of your door and seen it for yourself. We now rely on Digital transfer from an internet bank account. The account in reality does not exist but the money does. Digital transfer means quicker payments and faster processing. But there are some that are still used to cheque’s being used. Most institutions do not handle them any more as payment. Then there are the self serve machines in shops. These take cards only and no more cash.

Then the banks have to follow suit and stop printing cheque books because the use is old hat. Sometimes the person paying will use the card machine to withdraw cash. But again cash is an old fashioned method of payment. Cards and digital money can do so much more these days. And now you can log your cards on your mobile phone and they then act as payment from your bank account. So even the humble bank card can soon become part of the past. As digital technology expands I would have thought that soon another method of payment will soon appear.
