RedFox Blog: Is skiing Off ?
Post 766 6/12/20
During the Covid-19 pandemic most would think that skiing would be a sport that would not be affected as it takes place outdoors. But! like anything else the virus likes people who are in close contact with each other. This is not good. If the skiing season took off then the virus would be happy to cause a third wave which would over whelm medical services and block other more serious disease’s to go unchecked. Any virus would like to be in the conditions that skiers mix in after a day on the Piste. And the virus would then take off yet again.
It therefore prudent to call skiing off limits and probably most holiday companies would do so. But then again many business would go out of bust if this happened so there is a catch 22 situation. I would have thought that there should be some compromise but the time for winter holidays in the more industries northern hemisphere is now upon us. Is there a way round all of the restrictions so that these sort of holidays can take place ? I wonder! But at the moment with all the countries that have good destinations at this time of year anti Covid restrictions are the norm.
The Clock Has Struck!
The end of the UK’s transition period with the EU has come to an end. And the UK looks as though it will officially leave the EU without a trade agreement. This will have catastrophic consequences for trade’s like farming and fishing because they will be slapped with a 85% trade tariff on their respective industries. The financial consequences also look very Bad for the UK. The financial services sector will be locked out of European Markets and therefore the very loss will cause loads of redundancies in this sector. Or the services will move their operations to their operations to other European Capitals.
That is not all as food will be also hit because of the need to travel to and from the continent un heeded. And this will not be happening. As much as the government would like the sectors will be hit! And hit hard. There will be food shortages in the shops and the price of food will rocket. Leaving most to starve. The very consequences of leaving the biggest trading market in the world. But then what do you expect from a government that is backward looking. Looking at this from another side it would have been “easy” if the UK government was to give way and compromise on some issues. But! no.
