At last we have heard the good news. That if you travel to Portugal then you will not have to spend 10 days at an hotel on your arrival back in this country. It follows the longest lockdown that has happened since the Coronavirus outbreak started last year. This will mean that when you want to go on holiday this year you will be able to go to that country and not live in fear of having to self isolate. However! the sad news is that Italy is now in lockdown. This country was not a red listed country. But! I now doubt this as the lockdown comes into force.
Italy and some other countries I believe will remain red listed for some time to come and I have to doubt that it will be safe to go there during Summer. Also very sadly I have my doubts that it would be a very advisable not to go abroad this year as the EU suffers from falling short of their vaccination targets as they suffer a huge shortfall in deliveries of all the vaccine’s. This will mean that for some time to come a staycation is the best option. There is no doubt traveling to the EU countries increases the risk of catching Covid-19. Annoying but there it is.

And now we do have to worry as the economic costs of this lockdown begin to seep through. Business has to reach a point where they have to cut their costs to begin to make a profit. Profit is a dirty word but does make a business healthy and lockdowns means no money coming in and no profit. Anything that makes a loss has to be trimmed or even close their door permanently. And that is a down side to Coronavirus. But if we did not lockdown many people would have lost their lives to this disease. We have to face the consequences of this virus together.
But! is the money going to be flowing again ? As most of us have been encouraged to stay at home and do home working. And! we have been shopping online this means when shops reopen we may still remain online. And what then ? We as a society have got used to shopping online and not go out. But only to take exercise. And where will we be when the pubs reopen. Will we be still buying beer from the supermarket ? Something we will have to get around when life begins to come out to play. But until then we still have to suffer lockdown. Just for now!
