RedFox Blog: That Sinking Feeling!
Post 816 20/3/21
If you were the leader of China I would not be in the post long. Because there are reports that the artificial Islands constructed to house Military equipment for a expanding Chinese State are now ….Sinking. These reefs were there to start to expand Chinese might. But now have turned into Chinese embarrassment. The building’s that have been constructed on them are very heavy for the artificial Islands to support. They were constructed as China want ed to claim and control the South China Sea. And the sea lanes that go into that part of the world.
It would be very expensive for the world if China was to control that part of the pacific ocean. The worlds ships have to go into that part if as they depart from Japan. And to avoid that area would be a very expensive detour. The United States that has a big fleet in that area go into the South China Sea to make sure that free passage is maintained. But conflict could happen if one of those sailings upset the Chinese military in any way. Protecting the rights of passage though is the most important objective. And that right of passage is being threatened.
Starting Up! 21/3/21
The cruise industry was hit very badly by the Coronavirus outbreak and most ships have been anchored of many coastlines for the best part of a year. But with vaccines being rolled out to the retired the right time has come to fire those engines up again. The cruise liners have had a good clean and have been disinfected. And fresh food has been ordered. But the question is will there be any passengers willing to pay for a cruise ? The signs are that they have had bookings and that most people are now less scared of taking a cruise.
The cruise ship is one of the most places where you can become ill. Because of the closeness of the passengers this should come as no surprise. Traveling along most at the time at sea means there would be no room to get out of the way of an infected person. And a virus of any kind can be rife on a cruise ship. But like anything else it can be controlled. But if an outbreak of Covid-19 was to occur how would that be controlled ? Symptoms do not appear until five days later. And in cruise terms that’s a long time. Infection control would have to top priority. But it should all be ok when the population of a country has been vaccinated.
