RedFox Blog: A New National Lockdown Will Hurt!
Post 739 21/9/20
In the past week it has been announced that a second wave of Coronavirus is coming. With all the signs that a new National Lockdown may come in force I think this will be a disaster for the UK. However much the political fallout has been there had to be a sense of normality. Economies have to survive and those that worry over the increasing problems of bringing the virus under control have to rethink their support for a further lockdown. There is no other strategy other than keeping the economy ticking over and try to avoid a lockdown.
All jobs rely on people going out and about and getting the shopping in by going out and getting it in person. The sense that we have to stop what we are doing and hide will not be beneficial to anyone who will lose their jobs over this second wave. The young person who teaches me in my gym does not want another lockdown as it will destroy his income. And! he is right. How would people survive if all the business’s went bust due another lockdown. How would we cope with all the unemployed ? There is no end in sight if we just closed the country down for a second time. Hopefully it will not come to this.
Destructive Law
There is growing sense that the UK will be passing the Internal Markets Bill. This is in direct contradiction of the EU-UK withdrawal Agreement in which the UK prime Minister said was “Oven ready” and stacked all on the 2019 General Election. And everyone believed him. And! now claims that he did not like the clauses in the withdrawal Agreement in the first place. So if he did not like the withdrawal agreement then why did he sign it ? Agreement or not if you make a deal of any kind you have to stick with what you have agreed to or at least read the document.
The UK Prime Minister is now trying to wriggle out of his responsibilities by claiming that he has the right to change the agreement unilaterally. He has not the right to do this and does not have the right to change anything without the consent of the British Public. If he went to the polls on the basis of the document he signed into British law then he has to abide by the terms. It is his own fault if he has agreed to this and is determined to change the document he now has a government on. his word is now very much his honour and he has to stick to them. Come what may!
