RedFox Blog: All Paid Up!

Have you entered a shop and wanted to use your card then got embarrassed Because you have not brought your card with you ? Then there is a solution. More and more people are now using their mobile phones to pay for their shopping. Because on the mobile phone there is either Samsung pay or Google pay or Apple pay. These convert Credit/ Debit card into a digital format. Which then sends the same signal to the issuer. That’s speak for either your bank or credit card company. Which means the card reader in the shop can then convert that signal into a payment.
Then when you go to a shop you do not need to carry your cards around with you all you need is your mobile phone. Many places now have these payment methods at their terminal. It does increase security because then you do not need your bank cards to make payment. Just bring your phone which you would normally do. Digital payment methods are becoming very common. But those of a certain age do not really understand the Technology and so for do not use the methods. The young have now been brought up on how to use these and very wise if things go wrong.
Food to Go
If the above is true for shopping then the above will effect fast food as well. If you go to McDonalds you will find that cashless transactions are encouraged. Not just contactless but using the smart phone is the norm. There is no cash taken any more in fast food chains. The above attracts the younger generation and that has encouraged the companies to improve this way of paying for things. I actually saw young people at a coffee stall in the city Centre using their smart phone with their card details on it paying for coffee with no problems.
With Covid around there is now a move to these sort of payments. It might take a person who is 60 or more a long time to sort. But a person that is twenty and is very used to it just take a moment to get their smart phone out and pay for the product. Carparks are now another source of this change. In the City Centre again the pay machines only take contactless to pay and many now use their smart phones to make these payments. Smart payments will I assume take over from cash and that will mean that soon there will be no need for cash machines.
