RedFox Blog: Have You The Green Light ?
Post 834 25/4/21
The government of the UK has now a problem with allowing people to travel. Many want to travel to sunnier climes but the government want to stop the spread of Covid. There has to be a balance. And that balance could come in the form of a traffic light system. I think there has to be fairness in this as quiet a few countries have not yet got Covid under control. And some countries have not started to vaccinated their citizen’s against the virus. And many countries are even preventing the poorest of their populations of vaccination. How short sighted.
So I do believe that a traffic light system would work even though many call it unfair. We cannot have people traveling without any restrictions because it is travel that spreads the virus across the world. Green countries will be where you can go and do not have to isolate upon your return. Amber is a country is where you can go but when you return you have to self isolate for 10 days at home. Red countries are where you are NOT advised to travel to. But! if you have to go to a red country then upon your return to the UK the government will put you up in a hotel at YOUR expense.
What Is Leveling Up Mean ? 26/4/21
The UK government won the 2019 General Election on a promise to level up the country by investing in the North of the country. However much this seems to be a good idea the South may not like it so much. Why ? Because the leveling up would mean that investment will have to go north. And at the moment the agenda will mean leaving the South without investing in infrastructure. The government would have to shovel pots of money to actually level up both parts of the country at the same time. But the government is unlikely to do this.
Reality means that a sound economy must mean that spending can only take place in one part of the country at anyone time. The south has been by tradition seen the largest investment by a Conservative government. But now sees the north as an important target. And I wonder what those southern shires will think of that in the forthcoming local elections. Big business needs to compete on a level playing ground and have the right infrastructure. And those same business are in the south of the country not the north. But those red wall seats are in the north.
