The latest controversy is traveling to Portugal to see the European Champions league final. As the country is now an amber country many British supporters will not be able to travel there. This is spite of the fact that everyone should now being jabbed. It is very much a very cautious approach to these sports fixtures. I have commented the other day that Covid will be around for the rest of our lives and that football matches such as these should go ahead. With of course the most important part of the matches and that’s social gatherings.

Travel has been held up with this pandemic for many months with many industries living off international travel being affected. And some even going bust. It is a very volatile market and one that does not do well when a virus does hit. Whole sectors of the travel industry have had to make people redundant and this is not good for any economy based on travel. It is surprising that the government of the UK has not come up with any simple solution to get the travel market back up and running. Because if not then there will be masses of people out of a job!

An Upward Trend ? 24/5/21

As the economy opens up again and restrictions are being relaxed many business’s might not turn back to normal. We are now seeing the Hospitality industry being the most affected from these lockdowns. But! the simple fact is that cash is being taken and the business’s are again able to make bookings. However there is some sense that most will only break even. Because of the large amount of staff needed to serve people at the table. The UK government is committed to relax all restrictions by June the 21st. The question is will this enable small business’s to survive ?

The bank of England says it is and that the economy of the UK will bounce back even stronger. I take this with a pinch of salt. The worst economic dip in history followed by a economic recovery the biggest in the history of the UK. I think not. I do not believe this because if the companies that are supposedly leading us out of this downturn go bust then there goes the basis of this recovery. No one single country could survive without all the major industries and small business’s going bust. So its a dream world that the UK government lives in if this is to be achieved.
